Well, technically I got a lot of things... but the one thing I am most excited about...
Pristine Smut!
Leisha Hailey's original band she formed with her best friend Heather when they were in college.
Although this album includes other band members (used mainly for their musical contributions on the drums etc.) during an interview, Leisha said this was her favorite album that they made, and she believes it is their best.
For some reason it did not sell many copies, some believe it is due to the graphic design of the cover (Its one of the band members grandma)
The record label pulled the CD and instead had Leisha and Heather do a "re-make" CD called Blender where they blended old songs (mostly from Pristine Smut) + new songs.
The new cover was specifically taken of the women and it ended up selling many, many copies.
During the 90's they had a few big hits, the two they are most known for are: "You Suck" and "Smash"
It's interesting to hear the difference in Leisha's voice as well as her different musical style.
This is one song I enjoy:
I specifically picked one that the words where written by Leisha, only because I am a much bigger fan of hers than Heather, but the entire album... including those written by Heather is pretty good.
Supposedly its difficult to get a hard copy of this CD (and its hard to get an mp3 version too!)
So I am pretty excited about this purchase.
It's actually pretty funny.
When I was really young... like 11? maybe younger my friend and I were obsessed with the song "Smash"
We made a faux band, I was the drums, and we jammed to the song, pretending it was all our talent.
We even performed at a 4th of July party... we thought our fake band (which really only played the song on a purple boom-box behind us) was that good.
It's crazy to think I was doing that... and still running around like a banshee, while Leisha was performing songs on nighttime TV shows.
In 1997 when the album was released....26 vs. 9
Thats a big age difference.
I think I'll end this post with another murmurs song...
Have a great #MusicMonday according to Twitter :)
xoxo
